Official exam info
Nagaland Public Service Commission's Civil Services Examination (Nagaland Civil Service, Nagaland Police Service and Allied Services) — the state's senior administrative entry-cadre exam. Prelims has a single General Studies paper (200 marks) with a dedicated 'Nagaland: Political, economic, social, cultural and heritage of its people' item alongside the standard national syllabus. Mains has six papers: four General Studies papers (200 marks each) verbatim-tracking UPSC's own Mains GS1-4 syllabus, an entire dedicated Paper-V titled 'General Studies-Nagaland' (200 marks, covering History, Art and Culture, Geography, Economy, Polity & Governance, and Society), and a General English paper (comprehension, grammar and essay). There is no optional subject at all in this exam. Study material reuses UPSC's own GS Mains citation corpus for Papers I-IV, with 3 chapters authored fresh for Nagaland's own history and political development (the colonial era, the Bengal Eastern Frontiers Regulation Act, Article 371A, and local governance — with the post-1947 Naga political-movement narrative deliberately cross-referenced to this platform's existing national coverage rather than duplicated), culture, heritage and society (the Morung, Khel and Angh tribal institutions, and Naga customary law), and geography and economy (Nagaland's distinctive tribal land-ownership customs and its place within the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot).
