Uttarakhand Public Service Commission's Combined State Civil/Upper Subordinate Services Examination — the state's senior administrative-service exam. Prelims has General Studies Paper I (verbatim UPSC Prelims GS1, with a hard minimum 1/3-question Uttarakhand quota and a dedicated Uttarakhand sub-block in every unit) and a General Aptitude Test Paper II (qualifying). Mains has no optional subject at all — instead, 8 compulsory papers: a qualifying Hindi paper, an Essay paper with a mandatory Uttarakhand-only section, 4 General Studies papers verbatim-identical to UPSC's own Mains GS1-4, and then TWO ENTIRE ADDITIONAL PAPERS both literally titled "Knowledge of State of Uttarakhand" — General Studies-V, covering the state's ancient and medieval dynasties, British rule and the Tehri princely state, its own popular movements and 1990s statehood agitation, society and culture, and political/administrative system; and General Studies-VI, covering the state's physical geography and natural resources, economy and industrial development, and — reflecting Uttarakhand's severe Himalayan disaster exposure — disaster management, human resource development, education and health. Study material reuses UPSC's own extensive GS1-4 citation corpus, with 6 chapters authored fresh for Uttarakhand's own history and freedom movement, society and culture, polity and administration, geography and natural resources, economy and welfare, and disaster management and social sector — the last chapter presenting the 2013 Kedarnath floods and 2021 Chamoli glacier disaster with explicit, honest flagging of the genuinely disputed casualty figures found across real-world sources.
